Frequently Asked Questions
What is Direct Primary Care?
A new membership based movement in medicine geared towards enhancing the relationship between patient and physician, without the limitations placed by insurance or the impersonalization of a large corporate practice.
Is a Direct Primary Care pediatrician necessary for a healthy child?
- Concierge style medicine/Direct Primary Care is not required to keep your child healthy but it will make the process easier and more enjoyable.
- The goal of Rising Star Pediatrics is to provide family- focused care and guidance.
- Since we have a direct pay membership model, the only premium we focus on is your child's health, well-being, nutrition, sleep, and other parenting needs. We do this in a flexible, patient-centered environment--your home.
- You get as much time as desired with Dr. Jean-Baptiste in the comfort of your home.
- Rising Star Pediatrics members will experience a much more personal relationship with their pediatrician.
- Dr. Jean-Baptiste is only a quick text, call, or email away. With the exception of her husband helping out administratively, there will be no receptionist or nurse serving as a gatekeeper to her.
- Dr. Jean-Baptiste offers comprehensive and accessible care so that you don't wind up in emergency rooms or urgent visit centers for issues that could have been addressed by your pediatrician, if only your pediatrician were available.
- One urgent care visit can cost a minimum of $200 out of pocket just for walking in the door. One trip to the ER (with insurance) can cost more than a year's membership with our office.
- Our goal is to keep your child out of the emergency rooms or urgent visit centers when possible.
Are you accepting new patients to the practice?
Yes. However, we limit membership to a reasonable level. Fewer patients equal more attention can be devoted to each members' care.
What Kind of Payments Options Do You Accept?
We accept cash, check, credit cards, or monthly auto-draft from members' bank accounts. If you sign up for a yearly membership for any of our plans, you gets a locked-in price advantage for the whole year even if plan prices rise.
Do You Offer Gift Certificates?
Yes, we do. Monthly and yearly gift certificates are very popular with grand parents and friends who want to give the gift of certainty for the rest of the year.
What About Remote Care?
If you are on vacation or out of town and something happens to one of your children, we can certainly provide telehealth care if the situation requires it. This is one of the many perks offered to all our members.
What if Dr. Jean-Baptiste is Not Available Due to Personal Emergencies?
Most of the time, advance notice will be be provided (via email or text messages) that Dr. Jean-Baptiste will have limited availability due to severe illness or family emergencies. If she's completely unavailable, either one of her colleagues will fill in for her in the meantime or RS PEDS will work with members to find external quality and temporary care. members
